Recovery & Post-Operative Care

Appropriate post-operative care is crucial to the safety of our

patients. It is also vital in order to achieve the best outcome from

their surgery.

You will spend a short period of time in the Recovery Area.  This is a

higher intensity nursing area when you will be monitored closely.  You will only be returned to the ward once you are stabilized and safe.

If you are too sleepy from the anaesthetic or pain medications, you may need to have oxygen.

You may need to have injections daily to try and prevent blood clots. These blood clots can be very dangerous.  Even with the injections, the blood clots can still occur.  The best thing you can do, to prevent these clots yourself, is to get out of bed.

Getting out of bed and moving around is the key to a good outcome.                                                           The nurses and physiotherapists will do their best to get you out of                                                           bed. Please try and help them help you to a quicker and better                                                                   recovery

Our aim is to achieve the best outcome possible for you.
